Mudassir Sheikh: Going Inwards

Video

Going Inwards is a research-based video art project delving into collective traumas and indigenous healing in Pakistan, focusing on Sufi shrines and water bodies. It explores Sufi mythologies of crocodiles, hot springs, and the number 7, blurring reality and fiction. The work highlights Karachi’s disconnection from nature, emphasizing water’s duality – water scarcity and floods. It connects water’s fluidity to the non-linear nature of healing.

Mudassir Sheikh is an MFA student in Media, Art, and Design at Bauhaus University Weimar. He has a primary interest in storytelling, which encompasses sound art, music, and video. His practice, rooted in research, revolves around exploring decolonial in-between spaces related to the sacred and the ordinary, collective identities, the internet, and humor.
