Cross Media Installation/Performance
2023
This performative lecture consists of the artist delivering a talk on grief. While she speaks, she presents timelines and diagrams based on the geography of Colombia. These places are where the violent events described in the narration took place. However, using Machine Learning, the drawings are distorted in real-time while the artist keeps trying to explain the events and their impact on her family.
Isabella Lee Arturo is a Colombian transdisciplinary artist. Her practice transits through traditional and new media, such as drawing, programming, and performance. Her work focuses on the failure of communication and resistance to forced silencing. An important part of her work is inspired by the poetry of the collapse of systems.
